Email and text message sharing

Guests receive their photo by email or text. Both are set up in the same place.

Before you start

Nothing. Pictor sends both for you — email from a Pictor address, texts from a Pictor number — so you can switch these on and use them straight away.

Optional: if you want messages to come from your own email address or phone number, connect SendGrid or Twilio under Integrations and switch that card on. It changes who the message appears to come from; it is not required for delivery.

Where the settings are

They live in two places and edit the same values.

Where What is there
Output → Sharing Station Sharing methods — the Email and SMS switches — and the delivery fields
Flow → Share Output The same fields as Email delivery and SMS delivery, plus Default sharing option, Limit country codes and Customize email suggestions
  1. To switch them on: Output → Sharing Station → Sharing methods.

  2. For the full set of settings: Flow → Share Output.

Note - Changing a delivery field in one place changes it in the other. It is one set of settings shown twice, not two independent copies.

Both sit inside Sharing Station, each with its own switch.

Email

Field What it does
From name The sender name guests see. Required
From email Optional. Leave it empty and Pictor uses its own sender address, or the one on your SendGrid account if you have connected one
Reply to Where replies go. Required
Subject The subject line. New events prefill it with the event name. Required
Email content The message body. Required
Use HTML Send a designed template instead of plain text
Attach output Attach the photo as well as linking to it
Template Choose a designed template

Note - New events start with your event's name as the subject. You can change it, but it does not support placeholders — type whatever you want it to say.

Note - Using a designed Template makes the event Pro.

Tip - Set Reply to to an address someone actually reads. Guests do reply — usually to ask for a photo that did not arrive.

Text messages

Message content holds the text.

Important - It must contain {{contentURL}} — that becomes the link to the guest's photo. Without it Pictor will not save: "Message must include {{contentURL}}."

Copy it exactly. Text before and after it is fine; what matters is that the token itself is intact and unaltered.

Your output is ready, check it out here: {{contentURL}}

Tip - Keep the message under 160 characters. Longer messages get split into several, which costs more and can arrive out of order.

Tip - Avoid hashtags and extra links. Carriers flag messages that look like marketing, and a flagged message may never arrive.

Other SMS settings

These are on Flow → Share Output → SMS delivery.

Setting What it does
Default SMS country code Added to numbers guests type without one
Limit country codes Restricts the country menu to the countries you pick
Allowed countries The list, when the limit is on

Important - If Limit country codes is on and a guest's country is not in the list, they cannot enter their number at all. Leave it off unless you have a reason.

Which do guests see first?

Default sharing option, on Flow → Share Output, decides whether Email or SMS is pre-selected when both are on.

TipEmail is the safer default at venues with poor signal — it sends when the guest's phone next has a connection.

The message needs {{contentURL}}. The country settings decide who can enter a number.

Test it

Run a Simulation test from the Launchpad and send yourself one of each.
