##

Pictor can capture an animated GIF instead of a still photo, and play it back and forth as a boomerang.

**Note -** Available on all plans.

### **Set it up**

1. Open your event and click the **Flow** tab.

2. Open **Choose Experience** and open a template.

3. Select the **Capture** element to open **Capture Settings**.

4. Under **Output Type**, choose **GIF**.

### **Frames and timing**

| **Setting** | **What it does** |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| **Number of Frames** | How many photos make up the animation |
| **Frame Duration (s)** | How long **each frame** is shown |

**Important - Frame Duration** is per frame, not the length of the whole GIF. With 3 frames at

0.2 seconds you get a 0.6-second animation. Enter 3 seconds and you get a 9-second slideshow.

**Tip -** Leave **Frame Duration** on **Auto** unless you have a reason not to. It picks sensible timing for the number of frames you chose.

**Tip -** Four to six frames gives a lively loop. Two or three reads as a flicker.

### **Boomerang**

Switch on **GIF Reverse (Boomerang)**. The animation plays forward then backward in a loop — the effect people know from Instagram.

**Tip -** Boomerangs work best with a clear movement — a wave, a jump, a spin. A group standing still makes a dull boomerang.

### **Burst GIF**

**Burst GIF** takes all the frames rapidly after a single countdown, rather than counting down before each one.

**Tip -** Use Burst GIF for action and reactions. Use the standard mode when guests need a moment to change pose between frames.

### **Test it**

Run a **Simulation test** from the **Launchpad** and watch the result end to end. Timing is very hard to judge from the settings alone.
