## Overview

Pictor lets you set **separate background images for each device type** — phone, tablet, and desktop — inside **Global Styles**. This means guests on different screen sizes see a background that's properly composed for their aspect ratio, rather than a cropped or stretched version of a single image.

## Why device-specific backgrounds matter

A background designed for a widescreen desktop (16:9) will look heavily cropped on a portrait phone screen (9:16). Setting a tailored background per device ensures the focal point, branding, and overall composition look intentional on every screen.

## How to set per-device backgrounds

1. Open your event and go to **Global Styles**.
2. Find the **Background** section.
3. You will see separate upload slots for **Phone**, **Tablet**, and **Desktop**.
4. Upload or select the appropriate background image for each device type.
5. Save your changes.

## Design tips

- **Phone (portrait):** Use a 9:16 composition. Keep key branding elements centered and near the top third — the bottom may be partially obscured by on-screen UI.
- **Tablet:** Typically a 4:3 or 3:2 ratio. A landscape composition often works well.
- **Desktop:** Use a 16:9 or wider composition. Backgrounds can have more negative space since the screen real estate is larger.
- A consistent color palette across all three versions keeps the experience cohesive even if the layouts differ.

## Frequently asked questions

**Do I have to set a background for every device type?**
No. If you only set one, it will be used across all device types. Setting per-device backgrounds is optional but recommended for virtual booth flows where guests access the booth on their own device.

**Where does the per-device background apply?**
The background set in Global Styles applies across your entire event workflow. Individual stage styles may override it for specific stages if configured separately.
